Amalgam is not Utilized in our Dental Practice in Düsseldorf

Amalgam has been used as filling material for a long time, but is now being questioned due to its containing of mercury. It must not be used for pregnant patients, patients with kidney diseases or patients with allergy and should not be used for children. Since patients are confused by controversial discussions, we decided from the beginning of practicing not to use amalgam.

High-end Composite Fillings

Recently, a lot of high-quality materials have been developed. They are tooth colored and fulfill contemporary aesthetic standards. Those composites are made from a synthetic framework with ceramic filling material and can be anchored in the tooth adhesively. The procedure is laborious and time consuming, even small mistakes in this treatment result in loss of quality. In order to expand teeth surface,
a special acid is applied on enamel and dentine and chemical adhesion promoting improves connection of tooth and filling material. The material is installed in small portions and hardened with UV light layer by layer. The tooth ought to be protected from saliva during the entire treatment. Inlays
